Timewarp trailer: Independence Day

And what the hell is that smell? I could have been at a barbeque!

Welcome to Earth!

Directed by Roland Emmerich, with an all-star cast including Will Smith, Jeff Goldblum, Mary McDonnell, Bill Pullman and, er, Randy Quaid, Independence Day was released on 2 July 1996. The film was wildly popular at the time, with multiple tie-ins from major corporations (bacon cheeseburger from Burger King, anyone?). The film grossed around $816 million at the box office, and was the highest performer of the year, with the scene of the White House’s destruction being one of the most iconic of Nineties cinema.
