Time Travel Is Dangerous: Star-studded sci-fi comedy warps into UK cinemas this march

See the poster and trailer for Time Travel Is Dangerous, the new British sci-fi comedy starring Johnny Vegas and narrated by Stephen Fry.

We said that Time Travel Is Dangerous is “an endearing, surreal and funny portrait of friendship lasting across time” in our FOUR-STAR review and now, to celebrate the news that the movie is heading to UK cinemas next month, we’re exclusively revealing its poster (above) and its hilarious new trailer here…

The movie follows best friends Ruth and Megan who run a vintage shop in Muswell Hill. When they stumble across a time machine, it occurs to them that stock is much cheaper if they ‘borrow’ from the past – well, it’s free. They don’t want to change history, or rob banks, they just want to find a nice Victorian lamp or authentic 80s bum bag without getting sucked into the hellish time-space vortex that is “the Unreason”. The thing is, Time Travel Is Dangerous.

Written and directed by Chris Reading and co-written and produced by Anna-Elizabeth and Hillary Shakespeare (the Shakespeare Sisters), the film stars Johnny Vegas (Bleak House), Jane Horrocks (Absolutely Fabulous), Sophie Thompson (Four Weddings and a Funeral) & Mark Heap (SpacedGreen Wing), Brian Bovell (Love Actually), Tony Way (Game of Thrones), Guy Henry (Harry Potter), Tom Lenk (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Laura Aikman (Gavin and Stacey) & Kiell Smith-Bynoe (Ghosts). It is narrated by Stephen Fry.

The ensemble cast surrounds best friends and shop owners Ruth Syratt and Megan Stevenson, who play characters based on themselves. The film is set around their actual Muswell Hill vintage shop ChaChaCha, bringing a real-life documentary element to the sci-fi mockumentary.

“I can’t wait for people to experience Time Travel Is Dangerous on the big screen,” said director & co-writer, Chris Reading. “I set out to make a lighthearted mock-doc about my two friends and their love of vintage and in the process, we’ve created something that feels real, and heartwarming and hopefully as much fun to watch as it was to make!”

Time Travel Is Dangerous is coming to UK cinemas from 28th March
