The X-Files Season 11 casts Barbara Hershey, more returning characters confirmed

Barbara Hershey joins The X-Files and two characters from Season 10 will be back

Production is underway on the new season of The X-Files, as Chris Carter and co get ready to pick up where Season 10’s cliffhanger left us, and a very exciting new addition has been made to the cast.

Deadline reports that the most excellent Barbara Hershey (The Entity, The Last Temptation Of Christ, Hannah And Her Sisters) has been cast as “Erika Price, a powerful figure who represents a mysterious organization.” Well, that sounds very much like a villain, doesn’t it?

Hershey’s recent work includes Black Swan, Insidious 1 and 2 and The 9th Life Of Louis Drax. She’s also been busy on TV, starring in the short-lived Damien and Once Upon A Time.

She joins David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson and Mitch Pileggi, as well as two familiar faces from the newest season…

Yes, TV Line confirmed that Lauren Ambrose and Robbie Amell will reprise their roles as Agents Einstein and Miller, who were presented essentially as younger versions of Mulder and Scully (he’s enthusiastic and open-minded to the paranormal, she’s a science-driven sceptic). As the site notes, there was a lot of chatter that these two characters would spin off into their own show, but nothing has come of that yet. There’s no word as to how big a role they’ll play in this new season.

Season 11 will hopefully give everyone a bit more room to breathe, with 10 episodes as opposed to Season 10’s measly 6.

The X-Files Season 11 will air on Fox in early 2018. Keep up with the latest genre news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
