NBC has hired its Dracula creator Daniel Knauf to develop a TV show based on The Wolfman.

Deadline reports that Knauf (Carnivàle) will be writing the script The WolfMan based on the 2010 remake starring Benicio Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins. The site pitches the show as a “supernatural thriller that explores what it means to be a man and to be human. It centers on Lawrence Talbot, who is afflicted by an ancient curse and jacks into the powerful, primordial soul of the alpha-predator.”

Directed by Joe Johnston, the remake was something of a critical and commercial misfire after a troubled shoot and a change of directors. Knauf’s version of Dracula hasn’t been met with the best reviews either (read our take on the pilot here), but Carnivàle remains a much-loved cult classic.

You can buy The Wolfman: Extended Edition on DVD for £2.95 at Amazon.co.uk.
