As Thor nears its January 2010 shooting date there’s been further casting news from the Marvel camp. According to Collider, the roles of Thor’s loyal warriors, the Warriors Three, have been filled. The burly men set to fill the shoes of these Asgardian battlers are Stuart Townsend, Ray Stevenson and Tadanobu Asano. The actors will play dashing fighter Fandral, the brave Volstagg and Hogun respectively.
Stuart Townsend has a rather chequered CV with roles in The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen and Queen Of The Dammed, while Asano’s is much more promising with both Ichi The Killer and historical epic Mongol on his CV. Perhaps the biggest casting masterstroke is Stevenson. In previous Marvel flick Punisher: Warzone he showed off some serious tough guy credentials, and coupled with his time spent on bloody TV series Rome, we can’t wait to see him laying the smack down on Loki’s minions in this upcoming superhero picture.

Thor is scheduled for release on 30 May 2011, and will begin filming in January 2010.
