WARNING: Minor spoilers for The Walking Dead Season 8
There’s bad news on the horizon for Rick Grimes fans: according to Collider, actor Andrew Lincoln is leaving The Walking Dead after Season 9. Not only that but he’ll also be appearing in just six episodes of the coming season.
Currently there’s no news about how Rick will make his exit, but we’re guessing he’s going to die, because what would be the point otherwise?
Once Rick is out of the picture, the only remaining original Season 1 characters will of course be Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride).
Collider has also reported that The Walking Dead‘s network AMC has offered “substantial compensation” to Reedus to “not only stay on board, but to take over the show’s leading role.” It sounds as though we’re going to be getting a lot more Daryl come Season 9, which is no bad thing.
The Walking Dead Season 9 will premiere in October in AMC in the US and FOX in the UK. Get all the latest sci-fi news with every issue of SciFiNow.
