Season 3 of The Walking Dead will now have 16 episodes instead of the usual 13, AMC revealed at the TCAs this weekend. Citing its success domestically and internationally, this is the first time AMC have ordered extra episodes for one of its shows, and bodes well for the scope of the drama in its third year. We’re expecting the series to return around October time – with this many episodes, we’re also anticipating that they’ll once again be broken up into two chunks, just as season 2 was.
