The Tick TV pilot casts Peter Serafinowicz in title role, smiley face

We are so onboard with this casting news for Amazon’s The Tick pilot

We were already beyond excited when Amazon announced earlier this month that they are working on a TV pilot based on cartoonist Ben Edlund’s The Tick. Now they’ve gone and announced who will be playing said Tick, and we’re practically wetting ourselves in anticipation.

Deadline has recently revealed that the superb actor-comedian Peter Serafinowicz has been cast in the title role. Yessssss!

In the new pilot (which will hopefully develop into a series), the Tick will be recovering from memory loss and ends up teaming up with his old sidekick Arthur to find crime. Serafinowicz (Shaun Of The Dead, Guardians Of The Galaxy) will be joined by Griffin Newman (Vinyl), who’s playing Arthur, and Valorie Curry (The Following) as Arthur’s sister Dot.

The pilot will be directed by Wally Pfister (Transcendence) and Sony Pictures Television will produce. Edlund is set to serve as writer and executive producer, with Barry Josephson also producing. Star of the well-received 2001 The Tick live-action series Patrick Warburton is also rumoured to be acting as an executive producer.

You can buy Tick: The Complete Series (2001) on DVD from Amazon.co.uk now.
