The Strangers 2 cast confirmed, filming begins this month

Mad Men and Once Upon A Time stars join the cast of The Strangers 2

After years in development hell, the sequel to Bryan Bertino’s The Strangers is finally moving ahead with shooting scheduled to start on 30 May, and the lead trio of actors has just been announced.

Deadline reports that Christina Hendricks (Mad Men, Drive), Bailee Madison (Once Upon A Time, Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark) and Lewis Pullman (Aftermath) have signed on to star in the horror sequel, which is being directed by Johannes Roberts (The Other Side Of The Door, F).

They report that the sequel “follows a family whose road trip takes a turn when they arrive at a secluded mobile home park and the power goes out. As they hunker down for the night in a borrowed trailer, three familiar masked psychopaths pay them a visit to test their every limit.”

Bertino wrote the script with Ben Ketai, and the sequel should hit cinemas next year, 10 years after the release of the first film. The home invasion film was at the forefront of the trend for that kind of horror and it was one of the best, with Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman tormented by masked figures  in their own home. Sales for The Strangers 2 are taking place at the Cannes Film Festival so we can expect to see some cool sales posters for it, at least.

Meanwhile, we’re still waiting for Bertino’s most recent horror film to hit the UK. The Monster starred Zoe Kazan and was released in the US last year, so where is it?
