The Six Billion Dollar Man movie hires Oscar nominated writer

Wild Tales writer will script Mark Wahlberg’s The Six Billion Dollar Man movie

Six Million Dollar ManThe big screen reboot of The Six Million Dollar Man continues to move ahead as a writer has been found for the Mark Wahlberg vehicle, retitled The Six Billion Dollar Man (taking inflation into account).

THR reports that Oscar nominated writer-director Damian Szifron, who made a splash with Wild Tales, has been brought on to script the film based on the 1970s TV show and the novel Cyborg by Martin Caidin. Peter Berg (Lone Survivor, Battleship) is attached to direct.

Szifron said “The themes surrounding this beloved property allow for the creation of a memorable sci-fi actioner as well as a bold spy thriller. Expectations are high and I’ll do my best to deliver the strongest basis for an amazing cinematic experience.”

The film tells the story of Steve Austin, “this time a military officer instead of a test pilot, as he was in the TV series, who suffers a horrible accident only to be saved by cutting-edge technology. This technology makes him half machine and gives him incredible strength and speed.”
