roadx-large.jpgFirst there was the news that Warner had decided to push back Harry Potter’s next adventure to next year from its original November unveiling, now comes the news that The Weinstein Company are following suit, uprooting their adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s novel The Road from its November release until an as yet unconfirmed later date.

John Hillcoat (The Proposition)’s film, which stars Viggo Mortensen as a father who is left wandering a barren post-apocalyptic America with his son, has been shunted back to a December release at the earliest and there is a strong possibility, it is rumoured, that the film may not even see the light of day this year. The Weinstein Company executives are to meet with the movie’s producers to discuss its future. According to sources close to the picture, though, the film remains far from complete, which suggests that a 2009 release is the more likely outcome.
