The sequel to Blumhouse home-invasion horror The Purge, which starred Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey, will be written and directed by James DeMonaco.
DeMonaco’s film was a huge success for Blumhouse and a sequel was quickly confirmed. His involvement mirrors the return of Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill for the upcoming Sinister 2.
The Purge is set in a near future in which any crime is legal for one night every year. Hawke and Headey starred as wealthy suburbanites under siege when they give refuge to a homeless man being pursued by preppie psychopaths. You can read our review here.
