The Predator delayed by six months, hunts summer release date

Fox is going to make you wait for Shane Black’s The Predator

Fox has unveiled its upcoming release date slate and it looks like we’re going to have to wait a bit longer for Shane Black’s The Predator.

The Wrap reports that the hotly anticipated latest chapter in the alien hunter franchise has been shifted from its February 2018 release date by about six months.

Now, before we all get worried about what this means for The Predator, it’s important to note that the new date is 3 August. A summer release date could mean that Fox is incredibly confident about the film and wants it to do that summer blockbuster business. Or it could mean that they’re not confident that it will be finished in time. Who knows, really? Early August is certainly much more encouraging than the end of summer, which is traditionally where action films go to die. (With all apologies to any action films currently slated for release at the end of summer, we’re sure you’re great).

We’re certainly not going to let this news affect how excited we are about The Predator. We can’t wait to see Black return to this universe, and the cast he’s assembled is outstanding. The movie stars Boyd Holbrook (Logan), Jacob Tremblay (Room), Olivia Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse), Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight), Yvonne Strahovski (Chuck), Keegan Michael-Key (Keanu), Alfie Allen (Game Of Thrones), Sterling K Brown (The People Vs OJ Simpson), Augusto Aguilera (Chasing Life), Jake Busey (The Frighteners), and Thomas Jane (The Mist), and the great Edward James Olmos.

He also confirmed that we can expect to see good old-fashioned practical effects with this tweet…

The Predator will be released on 3 August. Keep up with the latest genre news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
