Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has become the first new player to join the cast of The Matrix 4, according to Variety.
Details about Abdul-Mateen’s character have not been released, but the actor is set to take on a lead role. He joins a cast currently made of Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, who will be reprising their Matrix trilogy roles as Neo and Trinity respectively.

The Matrix 4 is being directed by franchise co-creator Lana Wachowski, from a script written by Wachowski, Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell. The film will be the first in the series that Wachowski hasn’t worked on with her sister Lily.
Lana Wachowski is also producing with her long-time collaborator Grant Hill, and filming is expected to begin at the start of 2020.
