We’re huge fans of Anna Biller’s The Love Witch, and here’s the NSFW trailer ahead of its Horror Channel FrightFest showing at the end of the month!

The film is a stunningly beautiful tribute to 70s melodramas and Eurohorror, a note-perfect love-letter with wit, elegance and style to spare. It’s also got a wickedly sharp edge to it, and some wonderful performances.

“Elaine, a beautiful young witch, is determined to find a man to love her. In her gothic Victorian apartment she makes spells and potions, and then picks up men and seduces them. However, her spells work too well, leaving her with a string of hapless victims. When she finally meets the man of her dreams, her desperation to be loved will drive her to the brink of insanity and murder.”

The Love Witch stars Samantha Robinson as Elaine, along with Laura Waddell, Jeffrey Vincent Parise, Gian Keys and Jennifer Ingrum.

As well as writing and directing, Biller was also the film’s editor, costume designer, composer, art director, set decorator, production designer and producer. The chances are you won’t see another film this year that is so clearly the vision of a single filmmaker.

We caught the film at Fantasia Film Festival (read our glowing review here), and UK fans should definitely catch it at Horror Channel FrightFest at the end of August.

The Love Witch is playing at Horror Channel FrightFest on 27 August at 8:40pm. You can buy tickets and find more information about the event here. Keep up with the latest genre news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
