The Kingkiller Chronicle adaptation gets Sam Raimi as director

Director Sam Raimi has joined Lin-Manuel Miranda on The Kingkiller Chronicle

Lionsgate’s eagerly anticipated The Kingkiller Chronicle adaptation very nearly has a director, with Sam Raimi currently in negotiations for the job, according to Variety.

Raimi, who is best known for his work on the Evil Dead films and the early Spider-Man trilogy, is joining Lin-Manuel Miranda (serving as a creative producer) and screenwriter Lindsey Beer (Transformers: The Last Knight).

The Kingkiller Chronicle is a heroic fantasy series by Pat Rothfuss that tells the tale of Kvothe, a magician/musician who ends up growing into the most powerful wizard the world has ever seen. The film will be based on the first book in the series, The Name Of The Wind.

Lionsgate is currently planning on adapting the books into movies, followed by a premium quality TV series which is being developed by Showtime. The series is set to expand the Kingkiller Chronicle‘s world outside of the books.

The Kingkiller Chronicle is available to buy now from Amazon.co.uk. Get all the latest fantasy news with every issue of SciFiNow.
