Drive and Only God Forgives director Nicolas Winding Refn announced at Cannes his intention to adapt cult comic-book The Incal for the big screen.

Written by Alejandro Jodorowsky (The Holy Mountain) and drawn by the massively influential Moebius, the first 6 volumes of the The Incal were published between 1981 and 1989, and were the basis for Luc Besson’s The Fifth Element (as a lawsuit subsequently proved).

Telling the story of flawed private investigator John DiFool who becomes the guardian of unimaginable power, the books became comic classics through their mythical storytelling, vast scope, and incredible weirdness.

You can pick up SelfMadeHero’s recent hardcover collection of The Incal for £19.19 from Amazon.co.uk.
