Legendary has announced the cast and talent for their latest monster movie, The Great Wall, and it sounds brilliant.
Variety reports that Matt Damon, Willem Dafoe and Pedro Pascal have joined an all-star cast led by the great Andy Lau (Infernal Affairs, House Of Flying Daggers) that includes Jing Tian, Zhang Hanyu, Eddie Peng, Lu Han, Lin Gengxin, Zheng Kai, Chen Xuedong, Huang Xuan and Wang Junkai.
The film is directed by House Of Flying Daggers and Hero‘s Zhang Yimou from a concept by Max Brooks (World War Z) and Legendary’s head honcho Thomas Tull.
The Great Wall is “set in 15th century China and revolves around an elite force of soldiers making a last stand for humanity against mythical creatures on the world’s most iconic structure.”
Production starts at the end of this month, and Variety describes it as “the largest film ever to shoot entirely in China for global distribution.” On the basis of the cast, director and concept, this sounds like it could be awesome.
