MR Carey’s brilliant novel The Girl With All The Gifts was one of our favourite books of last year, and word has come that a film adaptation has been cast and is underway.
The film will star Gemma Arterton (Byzantium, The Voices), Paddy Considine (Pride, Dead Man’s Shoes) and Glenn Close (Damages, Guardians Of The Galaxy). It will be directed by Colm McCarthy (Sherlock, Peaky Blinders), and will be his feature debut.
“SHE WHO BRINGS GIFTS is the story of Melanie, a girl who is full of questions about the world. Every morning, Melanie waits in her cell to be collected for class. When they come for her, Sergeant Parks keeps his gun pointing at her while two of his people strap her into a wheelchair. She thinks they don’t like her. She jokes that she won’t bite. But they don’t laugh.
Melanie is a very special girl.”
Production begins in May. We’re huge fans of the book and this cast is perfect; we’re really excited to see how this film adaptation comes out.
