The Gifted new trailer is all about families, won’t cross-over with X-Men

X-Men TV series The Gifted unleashes a new trailer and confirms no crossovers

A new trailer for Fox’s X-Men spin-off TV series The Gifted has been released out of Comic-Con, giving us a better look at the high stakes involved in this new show from Burn Notice‘s Matt Nix and director Bryan Singer.

This trailer doubles down on the fact that the show is all about family, both the ones we’re born with and the ones we make, and shows off the new mutants involved (although Jamie Chung’s Blink did appear in Days Of Future Past, played by Fan Bingbing).

When the creators took the Comic-Con stage to discuss the new show, it was confirmed that The Gifted is taking place in its own X-Men universe. It’s stated that no one knows where the X-Men are in the trailer, and we can expect that to stay the case.

Nix stated that it does not share a universe with the films, nor with Noah Hawley’s incredible Legion. “One of the great favors that Days Of Future Past did for all of us is establish many streams,” he said (reported by Variety). “I guess that one answer is that this is one of those many streams.”

Amy Acker (Angel) and Stephen Moyer (True Blood) star as Kate and Reed Strucker, whose children Lauren (Natalie Alyn Lind) and (Andy Percy Hynes White) discover that they carry the mutant gene. As the Strucker set off on the run, they are assisted by Eclipse (Sean Teale), Blink (Jamie Chung), Polaris (Emma Dumont), Thunderbird (Blair Redford), while Coby Bell plays Jace Turner, who is on their tail.

The Gifted begins on Fox on 2 October in the US. Get all the latest superhero news with every issue of SciFiNow.
