Classic DC Comics villain Captain Cold has been added to the cast of The CW’s The Flash.
Played by Prison Break favourite (and Resident Evil: Afterlife‘s Chris Redfield) Wentworth Miller, the freeze ray-wielding Captain Cold – real name Leonard Snart – will debut in Episode 4.
“We’ll be seeing his origin and the origin of the Rogues,” said executive producer Greg Berlanti, according to IGN.
Miller’s previous brush with DC was voicing Deathstroke in two episodes of the much-loved Young Justice.
Captain Cold first appeared in Showcase #8 (June 1957), by artist Carmine Infantino and writer John Broome, and has the distinction of being only the second supervillain to face the Silver Age Flash, Barry Allen – played by Grant Gustin in the show.
As the long-term leader of the Rogues, and given Miller’s status and fanbase, we can expend Captain Cold to be a recurring foe in the new show.
