According to TVGuide, Robbie Amell, star of The CW’s The Tomorrow People and cousin of Arrow lead Stephen Amell, has joined the cast of The Flash Season 1 as STAR Labs maintenance worker Ronnie Raymond.
Amell will appear in The Flash Episode 3.
In the comics, Ronnie Raymond is better known as the secret identity of Firestorm, a fusion-powered hero who gains his powers when a nuclear explosion fuses him with physicist Martin Stein – all of which is certainly possible given the STAR Labs setting!
The character first appeared in Firestorm, The Nuclear Man issue 1 (March 1978) and was created by writer Gerry Conway and artist Al Migrom.
“Geoff Johns, Andrew Kreisberg and myself designed the pilot and series to include Ronnie (aka Firestorm) – and to actually have someone with Robbie’s talent playing the role is beyond exciting,” said executive producer Greg Berlanti.
“We can’t wait for viewers and fans of the character to check it out.”
“I’m so excited to join forces with Greg Berlanti and The CW again on The Flash,” added Amell. “Being brought into the DC Universe is a dream, I can’t wait to get started!”
The Flash is airing from 7 October 2014 on The CW. Find out more about the comics that inspired the show with new digital magazine Uncanny Comics.
