It’s only been a couple months since she was killed off of The Walking Dead, but Beth Greene actor Emily Kinney has already landed herself a role in another hit genre show.
The Flash has added Kinney to the ever growing cast as the Bug-Eyed Bandit. Kinney is set to make her first appearance on the show in Season 1 episode 18, titled All-Star Team-Up, when Arrow‘s Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) and Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) pay Central City a visit while looking to get help with Palmer’s A.T.O.M. exosuit.
Typically male in the comics, the Bug-Eyed Bandit (also known as Bertram Larvan) is a thieving inventor who goes on to become a nemesis of the Atom. Kinney will obviously be playing a female version of the character, and will be named Brie Larvan after the gender swap.
The CW has described Larvan as “a narcissistic tech wizard wreaking havoc on Central City. When Felicity Smoak and Ray Palmer arrive, Felicity recognises Brie as her nemesis, and the two women engage in a hacker battle for The Flash’s life.”
The fact that the Bug-Eyed Bandit is Ray Palmer’s nemesis leaves room for Kinney to reprise the role at a later date, what with recent rumours that the Atom could soon be getting his own spin-off show.
The Flash airs every Tuesday night at 8pm on Sky1 in the UK. Find out more about the comics that inspired the series with the 100 All-Time Greatest Comics bookazine!
