The Conjuring spin-off The Nun casts Taissa Farmiga in the lead

The Conjuring universe is Farmiga Central now that Taissa has signed up for The Nun

The Conjuring‘s universe is quickly becoming the home of the Farmiga dynasty; American Horror Story‘s Taissa Farmiga has just gone and joined the cast of The Nun, the spin-off of the original The Conjuring film which starred her sister Vera Farmiga.

Not much is known about the plot of The Nun just yet, with story secrets currently being kept under wraps. But the nun herself is thought to be the same nun that appeared in The Conjuring 2. According to Deadline, the younger Farmiga is set to star as the young nun opposite Demián Bichir (The Hateful Eight).

Writer/producer James Wan – and director of both The Conjuring films – announced the news with this kind of adorable tweet:

Same, James Wan, same.

The film will be The Conjuring‘s second spin-off film after Annabelle, which will also actually soon be getting its own sequel (or rather, sequel) when Annabelle: Creation is released in August this year. So many sequels, so little time.

The Nun is being directed by Corin Hardy (The Hallow) and produced by New Line. The script was written by James Wan and Gary Dauberman, and Wan and Peter Safran are attached to produce.

The Nun will be in US cinemas on 13 July 2018. It doesn’t yet have a UK release date. Get all the latest horror news with every issue of SciFiNow.
