The Conjuring sequel is on the way

New Line confirms that The Conjuring 2 is in development

The ConjuringA sequel to James Wan’s 1970s-set horror film The Conjuring is in development at New Line.

According to Variety, the studio is so pleased with the film that it is looking to turn it into a franchise, possibly based on the other cases investigated by Lorraine Warren and her husband Ed. “We have Lorraine’s permission and support, and we are working on developing another film,” studio president Toby Emmerich stated.

“Horror is very much a part of the DNA of New Line — Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, The Rite, and the Final Destination films. This is as good a horror movie as we’ve ever made…. We think it will have great playability.”
