The Boy On The Bridge cover revealed for MR Carey’s latest

MR Carey’s The Girl With All The Gifts follow-up unveils its cover

We are huge fans of MR Carey’s brilliant novel The Girl With All The Gifts, as well as the superb film adaptation, so we were thrilled to learn that he was working on another novel set in the same universe. Now, the cover for The Boy On The Bridge has arrived.

Once upon a time, in a land blighted by terror, there was a very clever boy.
The people thought the boy could save them, so they opened their gates and sent him out into the world.
To where the monsters lived.”

The Girl With All The Gifts was a huge success, and the film, which starred Gemma Arterton, Paddy Considine, Glenn Close and Sennia Nanua as Melanie, has recently been getting some much-deserved awards season love, earning BIFA and BAFTA nominations.

Here’s the synopsis for The Girl With All The Gifts in case you need a refresher.

NOT EVERY GIFT IS A BLESSING

Every morning, Melanie waits in her cell to be collected for class.

When they come for her, Sergeant Parks keeps his gun pointing at her while two of his people strap her into the wheelchair. She thinks they don’t like her. She jokes that she won’t bite. But they don’t laugh.

Melanie is a very special girl.”

Any new work by Carey is worth getting excited about, but a follow-up to this? That’s pretty fantastic. We can’t wait to read it.

The Boy on The Bridge is out from Orbit in Hardback 4th May 2017. Keep up with the latest genre news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
