The Beast Is An Animal book to get a TV series from Amazon & Ridley Scott

Peternelle van Arsdale’s The Beast Is An Animal is getting a TV series

Coming off the back of the continued success of The Man In The High Castle, it sounds like Amazon Studios are eager to work with Ridley Scott again.

According to Variety, the studio is teaming up with Scott to develop a TV series based on Peternelle van Arsdale’s dark fantasy young adult novel The Beast Is An Animal.

The book follows a young girl named Aly with a special power she is forced to keep secret. Growing up in a village occupied by soul eaters – twin girls who were abandoned by their father and have slowly been morphing into something not quite human ever since – Aly and several other children were sent to the safety of a strict neighbouring village, where its inhabitants are ruled by fear of the soul eaters and the Beast that they believe guides them.

Ridley Scott’s company Scott Free is lined up to produce the series, and directing duo Bert & Bertie (Dance Camp) is currently in finale negotiations with Amazon Studios to helm it.

The Beast Is An Animal doesn’t yet have a premiere date. You can buy the book for £7.99 from Amazon.co.uk. Get all the latest sci-fi news with every issue of SciFiNow.
