Following the disappointment of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Sony’s upcoming Spidey slate seemed to have been thrown out of the window. We thought that the rumoured third film had been pushed back, and that Drew Goddard’s Sinister Six had been prioritised.
Now it looks like The Amazing Spider-Man 3 could be moving forward, and faster than we thought. A casting call from the Bill Beckman Casting Agency wants extras, it states that Andrew Garfield and Dane DeHaan are returning, and it promises the incredibly vague plotline of “Peter Parker/Spider-Man faces a new challenge to protect New York City.”
Following the flurry of information that tumbled out of Sony following the hacks, every piece of Spidey news feels like it needs to be taken with a truckload of salt and a sceptical eyebrow raise, so we’ll be deploying both of those until there’s actually confirmation. Still…Garfield back as Peter? That’s good news if true, right?
