The Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel Leatherface is revving up for production, and a writer has been chosen to tell the story of the confused young cannibal’s early years.
The Wrap reports that “up and coming” writer Seth M Sherwood will script Leatherface, “an origin story that follows Leatherface’s early years in the 1970s.”
While plot details are unconfirmed, this prequel is part of the new franchise revival kickstarted by last year’s Texas Chainsaw. The Wrap notes that Alexandra Daddario hasn’t been confirmed as returning (if it’s a prequel, surely she wouldn’t?), but producers Christa Campbell and Lati Grobman are staying on.
The timeline of Texas Chainsaw has become so muddied at this point that it’s probably not worth wondering if The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning will be referenced at all.
