Terrence Howard, who played Jim Rhodes in the first Iron Man film, will be replaced by Don Cheadle in the sequel.
The actor is reportedly not working on the film due to a financial disagreement with the studio, which is a blow to fans who were hoping for his appearance as War Machine following the “next time” line in this year’s summer blockbuster. The news is particularly puzzling, considering how animated Howard has previously been in interviews about reprising his role.
Iron Man 2 is slated for a 2010 release, and will be directed by Jon Favreau with Robert Downey Jr and Gwyneth Paltrow reprising their roles.
