Terminator reboot recruits Black Mirror and Blade Runner 2049’s Mackenzie Davis

The awesome Mackenzie Davis is set to join Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton in the new Terminator

Casting is underway on Tim Miller’s untitled Terminator reboot/T2 sequel and we’re very excited that the brilliant Mackenzie Davis is set to join the film.

Variety reports that the star of Halt And Catch Fire, Black Mirror episode ‘San Junipero’ and Blade Runner 2049 is in talks to star as “one of the new faces of rebooted franchise, in the vein of Schwarzenegger’s robotic assassin.”

Davis would join Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton in the film, and the report notes that the filmmakers are still looking for the actor who’ll be set up to take over from Hamilton’s Sarah Connor. They also claim that Davis has been Miller’s choice as well as the studio’s, but James Cameron needed to sign off on the decision. She’ll next be seen in Tully (the new film from Jason Reitman and Diablo Cody) and The Turning (a new spin on classic ghost story The Turn Of The Screw).

Cameron’s active involvement continues to be one of the most exciting elements of this new Terminator. The timeline has been worked into so many knots with so little success that we’re definitely interested to see what a direct sequel to T2 would look like. While we wait for more casting news, Variety states that Billy Ray (Shattered Glass, Captain PhillipsThe Hunger Games) is polishing up the script.

The new Terminator will be released on 26 July 2019. Keep up with the latest genre news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
