Matt Smith has been cast in the upcoming Terminator: Genesis, with a role to play throughout the reboot trilogy.

Deadline reports that the former Doctor Who star has been cast as a character with “a strong connection to John Connor (Jason Clarke).”

The site also states that his role will grow in importance over the course of the second and third films, but details beyond that are sketchy.

He joins Jason Clarke, Emilia Clarke, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jai Courtney, JK Simmons, Dayo Okeniyi and Byung Hun Lee in the film directed by Alan Taylor.

Terminator: Genesis is released 26 June 2015 in the UK. You can buy the Terminator Quadrilogy on DVD for £10.25 at Amazon.co.uk.
