Terminator 5 to be rated 15 in the UK? Producer Megan Ellison promises that the film will be R rated “as God and James Cameron intended”

Terminator 5 r rated

Terminator 5 r ratedProducer Megan Ellison, who won the rights for the Terminator movie franchise from Lionsgate last year, has promised that the fifth Terminator movie will be just as dark and violent as the first two.

“We can’t really tell you guys anything about Terminator,” teased the producer, “BUT it will be an R rated film as God and James Cameron intended.”

This means that Terminator 5 will be at least a 15 in the UK – as Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgement Day both are –  but could be easily be an 18, as US film classifications don’t line up perfectly with their British counterparts.

Good news for fans of a superstitious bent, as 2003’s Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines and 2009’s Terminator Salvation were both rated 12.

Terminator 5 is currently in pre-production with franchise star Arnold Schwarzenegger returning to the role. A 2013 release was originally mentioned, but following the rights battle and the loss of director Justin Lin, that’s not looking likely.
