Syfy renews Killjoys for two seasons, cancels Dark Matter

Bad news and good news as Syfy cancels Dark Matter and renews Killjoys

There’s good news and bad news: the good news is that Syfy has officially renewed its space opera series Killjoys for two more seasons. The bad news is that the network has cancelled its other space opera series Dark Matter.

Having recently concluded its third season, Killjoys still has been given two more seasons (and 20 episodes) to finish off its story for good. After Season 5, which we can expect to air in 2019 following Season 4 in 2018, the show is set to come to an end forever.

The Canadian space drama was created by Lost Girl‘s Michelle Lovretta and follows a trio of hard-living bounty hunters working on four planet system the Quad for the RAC (also known as the Reclamation Apprehension Coalition).

Killjoys stars Hannah John-Kamen as Yalena “Dutch” Yardeen, Aaron Ashmore as John Andras “Johnny” Jaqobis and Luke Macfarlane as D’avin Jaqobis.

Unfortunately, Dark Matter isn’t being afforded the same fate. The show has been cancelled by Syfy after just three seasons. Creator Joseph Mallozzi had reportedly plotted out a five-season story arc, so we guess we’ll never get to see how the series was supposed to end.

Dark Matter starred Mac Bendavid, Melissa O’Neil, Anthony Lemke, Alex Mallari Jr, Jodelle Ferland, Roger Cross, Zoie Palmer, Shaun Sipos and Melanie Liburd.

It followed a group of six people who awoke aboard a starship called the Raza with no memories of their identities or their lives before waking.
