Supernatural will end after Season 15, shocked face emoji

Supernatural is ending after Season 15 and we’re quite frankly shocked

The CW’s most unkillable show is finally dead: Supernatural is officially set to end after Season 15.

The bittersweet news was announced by cast members Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins in a video posted to Padalecki’s Twitter account:

In a joint statement, co-showrunners and executive producers Andrew Dabb and Robert Singer said: “Firstly, we would like to thank all the people who have been involved with the show both in front of and behind the camera. For us it has been an experience of a lifetime. The support we have had from both Warner Bros Television and The CW has been incredible. We’d like to give special thanks to Jensen, Jared and Misha for making this journey so special. It is now most important to us to give these characters that we love the send off they deserve.”

The show’s network announced earlier this year that Season 15 would be airing this autumn, so we can probably expect something wild if it’s to top the previous 14 and come to a satisfying conclusion.

Supernatural was created by Eric Kripke and first aired on The CW in September 2005. It follows the adventures of brothers Sam and Dean Winchester (played by Padalecki and Ackles respectively) as they travel the US and hunt monsters, and fight angels and demons, sometimes with the help of Collins’ angel Castiel among others.

As the Winchesters have died on the show many, many times apiece, we’re actually shocked that their story is finally coming to an end. We’d say it was about time (it started to drag a while ago; it’s been downhill since the apocalypse), but we’re actually still pretty gutted.

Supernatural Season 15 will premiere this autumn. Get all the latest sci-fi news with every issue of SciFiNow.
