US network the CW has commissioned new seasons of The Vampire Diaries and Supernatural for 2012/2013. That means a fourth season of TVD despite a drop in ratings, and an unbelievable eighth season for the Winchester brothers.
Jeremy Carver will be taking over from current showrunner Sera Gamble. Carver worked on the show for three previous seasons between 2007 and 2010. He also ran Syfy’s Being Human, which has also been renewed.
