Supergirl Season 4 trailer gets very dark as anti-alien rhetoric rises

Kara protects her home in Supergirl Season 4 trailer as the show casts TV’s first transgender superhero

Dark times are coming in Supergirl Season 4, as the anti-alien sentiment rises and Kara must protect her home.

There’s our first look at Sam Witwer’s alien-hating villain Agent Liberty (founder of the Children Of Liberty hate group), as well as a tease for what might be the Russian Supergirl.

Meanwhile, it was announced at Comic-Con (via THR) that Supergirl has cast actress and activist Nicole Mains as Dreamer (aka Nia Nal), the first trans superhero on TV. She’s described as “a soulful young transgender woman with a fierce drive to protect others. Nia’s journey in season four means fulfilling her destiny as the superhero Dreamer, which is similar to Kara’s (Melissa Benoist) journey to become Supergirl.”

April Parker Jones and David Ajala have also been cast as series regulars Colonel Haley and Manchester Black respectively.

Supergirl returns on 14 October on The CW and will air on Sky One in the UK. Keep up with the latest genre news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
