Supergirl adds iZombie star as tech genius Jack Spheer

iZombie’s Rahul Kohli is joining Supergirl in a villainous guest spot

We didn’t know we wanted iZombie actor Rahul Kohli to guest star in Supergirl, but now that it’s happened we’re over the moon.

The marvellous Kohli will be leaving behind everyone’s favourite medical examiner, Ravi Chakrabarti, for a spell while we takes on a guest spot in the other CW show.

According to EW, Kohli is set to join Melissa Benoist, Chyler Leigh and the rest of the Supergirl cast to play Jack Spheer, “a charismatic tech genius who has spent decades working on a medical innovation that will eradicate major illnesses and change the face of the world – if it works.”

Fans of the comics will know that Spheer also has a villainous alter ego known as Biomax, so we can probably look forward to him going rogue.

Spheer (and thus Kohli) will appear in Supergirl Season 2 episode 18, ‘Ace Reporter‘. With Spheer visiting National City to do a presentation about his new technology, Kara (Benoist) and Snapper Carr (Ian Gomez) are on the scene to report. Spheer will also reportedly have romantic links to Lena Luthor, played by Katie McGrath.

“I’m so excited to be working on Supergirl starring as Jack Spheer,” Kohli said. “It’s given me the chance to continue my relationship with The CW as well as fulfil my goal of meeting a Kryptonian.”

The episode will also feature an emphasis on the importance of journalism and show more of Kara’s reporting side, according to executive producer Andrew Kreisberg.

Speaking to EW, Kreisberg said: “That’s actually been very important to us, especially in the times we now find ourselves living in; we’re one of the few shows on television that actually has a journalist as a lead character.

“We really get a chance to talk about the importance of journalism, and the importance of journalism ethics, and how important [it is to have] the objective truth be out there now.”
