The news come through Nikki Finke, who doesn’t cite a source in her article but more often than not has it right on the money. Twilight has already threatened to smash records, having over four million trailer downloads in 48 hours, and having a level of passion within its fanbase that borders on evangelism.

Twilight, originally written by Stephenie Meyer, follows the story of Bella Swan, who moves to the town of Forks after her mother remarries. Once there, she meets Edward Cullen, and the two engage in a whirlwind romance between mortal and vampire that can only end in disaster.

Twilight is directed by Catherine Hardwicke and stars Robert Pattinson. The film is released in the UK on 21 December 2008.
