According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros are rumoured to be courting Dallas Buyer’s Club and American Psycho star Jared Leto for the role of The Joker in David Ayer (Fury, End Of Watch)’s Suicide Squad movie, based on the DC comic of the same name.

This is likely to be controversial for a couple of reasons:

a) Jared Leto is a one-man backlash machine. The second he won his Oscar for Dallas Buyer’s Club, people raised whether or not the role could have gone to an actual trans woman. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg for the actor-turned-muscian-turned-actor-again.

b) The late Heath Ledger left some mighty big shoes to fill thanks to his performance in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, and there’ll always be a sense from many fans that it’s just too soon to contemplate replacement.

He’s a fantastic actor though – unpredictable in exactly the same way that Heath Ledger was. It’s kinda fun not knowing how this could turn out.

Plus, he looks FIERCE in makeup.

Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice will be released on 6 May 2016. For more on the comics that have inspired the movie, pick up our 100 All-Time Greatest Comics bookazine now!
