According to Deadline, Warner Bros’ most eagerly anticipated DC movie (for us at least, as it’s being directed by Fury and End Of Watch‘s David Ayer), Suicide Squad, has approached Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice star Jesse Eisenberg to star.

Eisenberg is playing Superman antagonist Lex Luthor, two parts corporate raider and two parts mad scientist, so either he’s the overarching Thanos-style nemesis for DC’s big screen heroes (even antiheroes like the supervillains-turned-government stooges of the Suicide Squad) or they could be taking a few pointers from Gail Simone’s much-loved Secret Six.

In the original miniseries, Luthor assembles the Secret Six – a team of unaligned supervillains – to fight back against the Secret Society of Super Villains, formed by Alexander Luthor Jr posing as Lex (it’s complicated).

Or maybe not. It’s more likely he’ll just be popping up over the next few movies in a glorified cameo.

Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice will be released on 6 May 2016. For more on the comics that have inspired the movie, pick up our 100 All-Time Greatest Comics bookazine now!
