Following reports that Jared Leto is the number one choice to play The Joker in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad movie, it seems that his partner in crime has been cast.
Collider is reporting that Margot Robbie will play Harleen Quinzell/Harley Quinn. The star of The Wolf Of Wall Street was one of the first names linked to the movie, and it seemed a reasonable assumption that she’d be donning the iconic outfit. It also seems fair to assume that if we’re seeing Harley, we might see her Mr J as well.
For those unfamiliar with this particular villain’s origins, she was a psychiatrist at Arkham treating the Joker, but instead found herself falling under his thrall. Now, she’s a giddy psychopath with natty duds, a big grin, and a lot of love for her mentor. She first appeared in the animated series rather than the comic, but proved so popular that she was brought over to the print version, and has become one of Batman’s best-loved antagonists.
Suicide Squad is set for release in cinemas 5 August 2016. For more on the comics that have inspired the movie, pick up our 100 All-Time Greatest Comics bookazine now!
