While a lot of the focus at Star Wars Celebration was, understandably, focused on The Force Awakens, Gareth Edwards was on hand to tease some details about his spin-off Rogue One.
The official Twitter account gave the following synopsis,
A band of resistance fighters unite for a daring mission to steal the Death Star plans in Star Wars anthology film, Rogue One #RogueOne.

while Edwards went into a bit more detail. As previously reported, Felicity Jones will play a rebel solider, while SlashFilm reports that it was emphasised that the gritty military aspect will not be skimped on.
“It’s called Star Wars,” Edwards said, and revealed that Zero Dark Thirty cinematographer Greig Fraser will be shooting the movie that’s set between Episode III and Episode IV.
We also won’t be seeing any Jedi in Rogue One; instead it’s about people “that don’t have magic powers, that have to bring hope to the galaxy…It’s about the fact that God’s not coming to save us,” he said. “The absence of the Jedi hangs over the movie.”
Josh Trank was also supposed to be on hand to talk about his spin-off, and his sudden absence caused a flurry of speculation. However, the answer was fairly simple.
Hey all. So, so, so sad to have missed today. Worst flu of my life. I hear it went beautifully with Gareth. Here’s to next year. #SWCA
