According to Variety, Girls star Adam Driver (also briefly rumoured to be Nightwing in Zack Snyder’s Man Of Steel 2 – remember that?) has been cast as the villain in the JJ Abrams-helmed Star Wars: Episode VII.
Variety describes the role as “said to be in the vein of iconic Star Wars villain Darth Vader,” and Driver is said to have seen off competition from Hugo Weaving and Michael Fassbender.
With the recent revisions to the Star Wars canon, it’s entirely possible that Driver’s character could be someone we’ve seen before. Darth Krayt perhaps, or maybe Jacen Solo – aka Darth Caedus – the son of Han and Leia. That would certainly fit the theme of family that runs through the Star Wars saga.
