Star Wars 7: Andy Serkis’ character’s evil name revealed

Plus a further revelation about Star Wars The Force Awakens

Andy Serkis Star Wars
Andy Serkis’ character has been revealed as Supreme Leader Snoke

In among the drip-feed of Star Wars: The Force Awakens news, we have another small update: the name of Andy Serkis’ character is Supreme Leader Snoke, the voice who we heard narrating the first teaser trailer.

Despite initial reports to the contrary, his character will be portrayed by motion capture (as indicated by pictures in Vanity Fair of Serkis all wired up). There are no concrete details regarding what side he’s on, but judging by the whole ‘Supreme Leader’ vibe, we hazard a guess that he’ll be on the side of the First Order, the Empire offshoot who will be serving as the main bad guys in the new trilogy.

Is Snoke the man we see on the stage?

His character joins the other named members of the cast, who so far include Finn (John Boyega), Rey (Daisy Ridley), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) and Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong’o), with Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Leia (Carrie Fisher), Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew), C-3P0 (Anthony Daniels) and R2-D2 (Kenny Baker) all confirmed to be returning.

Out of the main cast, at this stage only Domhnall Gleeson and Max von Sydow’s characters remain unnamed, but we’re sure they will be revealed before too long.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be released in cinemas on 18 December 2015. Download the Star Wars: The Original Trilogy complete manual from GreatDigitalMags.com now.
