Hungry for your first proper glimpse of JJ Abrams eagerly anticipated Star Trek follow up, Star Trek Into Darkness?

The first 9 minutes of the movie will be playing in 3D in approximately 500 IMAX cinemas worldwide before The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, including the UK on 13 December 2012 to give eager Trekkies a first look at not only the sequel, but the innovative use of IMAX cameras.

“Our longtime partners JJ Abrams, Bryan Burk and the Bad Robot team, have really hit it out of the park – the footage is absolutely incredible,” said Greg Foster, Chairman and President of IMAX Filmed Entertainment. “Their use of the IMAX® Camera and canvas is sure to impress current and future Star Trek fans alike, and we’re thrilled to once again work with our friends at Paramount Pictures to offer this extended ‘first look’ at this highly anticipated summer blockbuster.”

The confirmed theatres showing it in the UK and Ireland are Cineworld IMAX screens in Dublin, Nottingham, Enfield, Crawley, Sheffield, Edinburgh, Ipswich and Birmingham, but expect more to be confirmed soon.

Star Trek Into Darkness is in cinemas 17 May 2013.
