Spider-Man animated film set to star Miles Morales as Spidey

Miles Morales is getting his own Spider-Man animated movie

When the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first Spider-Man movie (Spider-Man: Homecoming, in case you have been living under a rock) was announced a couple of years ago, we were instantly mad-keen on this possibility of it featuring Ultimate Marvel character Miles Morales as said Spidey.

Instead, the Marvel Studios decided to feature the other Spider-Man secret identity, Peter Parker, in his third live-action film adaptation of the 21st century.

However, our dreams might be finally coming true (sort of), as Sony Pictures Animation has confirmed that Miles Morales will be the friendly neighbourhood dude stepping into the spandex suit in the studio’s upcoming animated Spider-Man movie.

Bob Persichetti (The Little Prince) and Peter Ramsey (Rise Of The Guardians) will be co-directing the film. The Lego Movie’s Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are serving as executive producers, with Lord also stepping in for writing duties.

The news was announced that this week’s Sony animation presentation, with Sony Pictures tweeting:

This won’t be Miles Morales’ first non-comic book appearance; the character has previously starred in Season 3 of Disney XD’s animated series Ultimate Spider-Man (voiced by Donald Glover in his first two episodes, and later by Ogie Banks). He’ll also be one of the leads in the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man TV series, which is due to hit small screens this summer.
