Space Jam 2 confirmed – and it has a director!

They had us at ‘Space Jam 2’. Seriously, this is great news

In probably the best basketball-related news since 1996 when Space Jam was first released, THR reported yesterday that Space Jam 2 is officially happening. Yessssssssss!

Not only is it officially happening but it also already has a star and a director lined up. Michael Jordan is being swapped out for LeBron James (who was brilliant in Amy Schumer’s Trainwreck last year), and Star Trek Beyond‘s Justin Lin is stepping in to helm the film. Lin is also writing the script along with Andrew Dodge and Alfredo Botello.

The film’s story has not yet been confirmed, but we’re guessing LeBron James will need to step in to help Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and the rest of the Looney Tunes defeat an unstoppable basketball team. Hopefully the Monstars, because who doesn’t love those big guys? Honestly, we’re just so happy that Space Jam is back that we don’t care about the details.

But the real question still remains: will Bill Murray be in it?
