Clark heads to the Fortress Of Solitude in order to receive his training on how to become Superman. However, Jor-El sends him back to Metropolis to severe his ties with those close to him before he embarks on this journey. At the same time Lois has no recollection of her previous time travelling, and her investigations into a monorail accident bring her to new reporter John Corben. Even though John is opposed to the Blur, he himself holds a secret motive. Upon returning Clark falls out with Chloe as he refuses to go back in time to save Jimmy from dying. Over at Luthor mansion General Zod makes his grand entrance and has some struggles of his own convincing his troops to stay loyal to him.
