Sleight trailer for street magic sci-fi could be the next Chronicle

Indie superhero movie Sleight gets an excellent first trailer

The first trailer for Sundance smash Sleight has arrived, and it’s definitely grabbed our attention.

The feature debut from JD Dillard and his co-writer Alex Theurer stars Jacob Latimore, Seychelle Gabriel, Dule Hill and Storm Reed, and comes from Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Tilt label. What starts as a promising indie drama becomes something much more superheroic, and it’s a blend that we can definitely get excited about.

Dillard and Theurer were recently tapped to work on the remake of The Fly, and they’ve also got another Blumhouse movie, a horror movie called Stray starring The Flash‘s Kiersey Clemons, on the way.

“A young street magician (Jacob Latimore) is left to care for his little sister after their parents passing and turns to illegal activities to keep a roof over their heads. When he gets in too deep, his sister is kidnapped and he is forced to use his magic and brilliant mind to save her.”

Sleight is released on 28 April in the US. No UK release has been announced. Keep up with the latest genre news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
